Chapter History

This chapter is named in honor of General Charles A. "Charlie" Gabriel, a widely-heralded fighter pilot and distinguished combat leader, a revered mentor, and U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff from 1982-1986. Chapter 433 is one of only four named after former chiefs of staff. Organized in 1988 and chartered in 1989, the Gabriel Chapter serves AFA members of the National Capital Region of Northern Virginia along the I-66 aerospace corridor from Rosslyn to beyond Dulles Airport.

The Gabriel Chapter focuses our energies on supporting the Air Force and Joint space and intelligence communities at the National Reconnaissance Office and the Office of the Undersecretary of the Air Force for Space Programs. We also conduct a variety of programs to enhance the professional development of our AFA membership; encourage citizenship and military skills through Junior ROTC and Civil Air Patrol activities; and serve as good corporate partners who advance the AFA mission to advocate for a strong United States Air Force, educate Americans on the importance of our aerospace mission, and support USAF team of military, civilians and contractors.
