The top National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) graduate from the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) was awarded the semi-annual $500 scholarship from the Gabriel Chapter AFA during graduation ceremonies at the Bolling AFB Club on Thursday 22 May 08. The Gabriel Chapter representative, Chief Master Sergeant Andrew Cederle, Group Superintendent, made the award to Staff Sergeant Shuquana Allen, selected as the top NRO professional enrolled in this graduating CCAF class. The General Charles A. Gabriel Chapter, Air Force Association, has established and funded a $500 scholarship for the top CCAF graduate from the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) who intends to pursue an undergraduate degree. Additionally the Chapter will fund a one-year membership in the AFA for the awardee, for a total value of $536 (scholarship and AFA membership). The NRO Senior Enlisted Advisor conducts the award recipient selection process. All NRO members in the current CCAF graduating class are eligible for this award. This scholarship was presented in honor of Matthew Monczewski, Lt Col, USAF (Retired). Mr. Monczewski has been a member of the Air Force Association for over 25 years and has served in leadership roles on the executive committees for both the Gabriel Chapter AFA and the Virginia State AFA for the past decade. This fine professional exemplifies the high standards of our Chapter namesake, the late General Charles A. Gabriel.
